Plainfield YMCA is all about the kids & families in our communities!

The Plainfield YMCA’s aquatics program features swim lessons, aqua aerobics classes and recreational swimming. Swim lessons and aquatic exercise courses cater to participants of all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Swimmers of all ages including infants, children, young adults and seniors are welcome to join our classes to gain valuable life skills such as water safety, health and wellness and recreation.

Swim Instruction Schedule

Please Note: You are only able to make up ONE class. We will be on break the week after Christmas.

Swim lessons for all ages!

 

Swim lessons are once or twice week; for 8 weeks. Each class is 45 min.

(*) YMCA SWIM LESSONS LEVEL Descriptions

POLLIWOG: This is the beginning level for school-age children.
Ratio is 6 to 1.

GUPPY: This advanced beginner level is for children that can swim one length of the pool on their front, back, and side for 25 yards with a float belt.
Ratio is 6 to 1.

MINNOW: This initial intermediate level is for children who can swim 25 yards of the pool on their front and back using alternating and symmetrical paddles and 25 yards on their side by the end of this level.
Ratio is 8 to 1.

FISH: This intermediate level is for children who can swim 25 yards of the pool on their front and back using alternating and symmetrical paddles and 25 yards on
their side.
Ratio is 8 to 1.

FLYING FISH: At this advanced level, students should have refined front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and be able to swim 200 yards continuously.
Ratio is 8 to 1.

PORPOISE: At this final level, students are exposed to a wide range of aquatic
experiences through a class or club format.
Ratio is 10 to 1

Swim Evaluations will be held on Tue and Thur 6pm-7pm and
Sat 2pm – 3pm.

Classes are 1 time each week.

(Ages 3 months thru 15yrs) Member: $70.00      Non-member: $90.00      

(Ages 16yrs and up.) Member: $90.00              Non-member: $100.00       

 Or

Swim lessons are 2x a week; for 8 weeks. Each class will be 45 minutes.

(Ages 3 months thru 15yrs) Member: $120.00               Non-member: $160.00     

(Ages 16 and older) Member: $160.00               Non-member: $180.00   

Private Swim Lessons are 3 classes for $99  

You do not need to be a member to enroll your child in swim lessons.
Non-members: Please register in person at the Front Desk.
Members: Please register online for the swim lessons.
You will need your email address and password to complete the registration. Set up a new non-member account to become a member.
